CIVIL STATUS TO GDS Editorial POSTAL LIFE (P4 CHQ)
A reply to a question in LOK SABHA on 14th July 2014, the Hon’ble Minister of Communication & IT and Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad Jee said that the GRAMIN DAK SEVAKS are not regular Government Employees. They are part time workers and are governed by a separate set of Conduct and Engagement Rules. They do not form part of the regular civil service. They are engaged for only 3 to 5 hours daily work. It is mandatory for them to have an independent source of livelihood before being engaged as GRAMIN DAK SEVAKS and explained as Government already given so many welfare schemes like SDB (Service Discharge Benefit Scheme), exgratia gratuity etc,.
With due respect and regards we appeal and urge our Hon’ble Communication Minister who are the Minister also for Law & Justice to not to deny the “JUSTICE’ to 2.73 Lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks down trodden and poor employees working in the department of posts

NEW DELHI, JULY 21:
Proper digital connectivity of all post offices in the country is top priority for the Government, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the Lok Sabha here on Monday.
Replying to questions related to his Ministry, Prasad said the Prime Minister was personally monitoring a host of departments and postal services were one of them.
“The Prime Minister spent about one-and-a half–hours on the postal department and has given suggestions, which will be considered,” he said, in reply to a query by Biju Janata Dal’s Tathagata Satapathy on the status of the banking licence applied for by the postal department.Prasad said there was need for reforms in postal reforms as also upgradation of Grameen Dak Ghar Services, catering to the rural population.
No proposal to change five-day week: Government
There is no proposal to change the present five-day week for the employees of central government ministries and departments, Lok Sabha was informed today.
"No," said Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in a written reply to a question whether the government plans to change the five days per week working for central government servants.
There were reports that the government was considering increasing the five-day week schedule to six days.
The minister said there was also no proposal to enhance earned leave and casual leave being granted to the employees. "There is no such proposal under consideration of the government," he said.

Proposed discontinuing transmission of MO Form/Advice through Surface-regarding.
In order to prevent frauds there is a proposal for discontinuance of transmission of MO Form/ Advice through Surface mode and to be done electronically only. Before taking a final decision on the issue, Directorate has sought for views of the Circles vide Department of Posts (PO Division) letter No.3-2/2014-PO dated 17th July, 2014.

7th Pay Commission Collects Various Data of Central Government Employees
7th Pay Commission recently called for information from all the Ministries and issued a format which requires various data about the central government employees working in Ministries / Departments. All the Ministries directed their respective departments to submit the information as required by Seventh central Pay Commission immediately. Many departments told that they have submitted the desired data/information in the prescribed format to seventh pay commission. The central government departments were asked to submit the fallowing information about central government employees.

Sub: - Continuing injustice to the Postmaster cadre – request for remedial measures – reg.
By various references the injustice caused to the Postmaster cadre official have been brought to the notice of the Directorate but the results of the actions taken are yet to come. The minds of the affected Postmaster cadre officials are in the burning state and this disappointed category needs and deserves justice on the following issues.
1. It is happened while calling for volunteers to Postmaster cadre, it was assured to the applicants under initial constitution vide para 4, 5, 6 of the Directorate letter No. DG (P) No. 4-17/2008-SPB II dated 07.02.2011, that the same years as minimum Qualifying service will be adhered for the promotions of Postmaster grade I to Postmaster Grade II and Postmaster III as in the cases of LSG to HSG II and HSG II to HSG I. Many senior HSG II officials opted for PM Grade II are now bypassed by junior HSG II officials remained in the General line by getting HSG I on completion of 3 years of Qualifying Service.

India Post Data Centre; Needs and Benefits
In order to provide 24X7 reliable IT infrastructures for IT Modernisation project, a Data Centre Facility has been setup in Mumbai. Another facility called a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will be setup in Mysore to avoid any disruptions in the departmental operations.
